chalk wall

If you're like me, you like to write out your notes when you're studying for a big test. I usually pour over my notes jotting down things that seem important, rewriting definitions, creating timelines etc. Well, in our house, we have an entire wall devoted to study notes, to do lists, tic tac toe... you name it, we've probably done it, including wall twister.                                                           Chalk walls are practical; they can really help you stay organized,  but they also work as great ice breakers at parties. Our chalk wall was covered from floor to ceiling after our recent Christmas party.

You can buy the chalk paint at your local Wal-Mart or Lowe's for about $9 a can; of course you'll need a paint brush and most likely a drop cloth, unless you're feeling brave or not afraid of losing your deposit.

The paint applies fairly easily, but you're probably going to want to apply two coats; if you only use one coat, the pressure exerted on the chalk stick will strip away the chalk paint eventually. Be sure to read the directions on the can of paint; the paint may dry in a couple of hours, but most likely you shouldn't use the wall for at least 24 hours.
